This morning I woke up in pain. It is in my right breast. I hvae a 2 month old that I am 100% nursing. When i woke up at 4:00 to nurse I nursed him on the right side and massaged as i was nursing. It still hurt so I pumped and massaged, still hurt so at 5:30 i showered and massaged it still hurts. I am tired and in pain and my 23 month old wants to play.
What can i do to help the pain?
This never happened with my 23 month old who nursed for 13 months.
Thanks for reading and any help you can offer!!!

I am tired, but that could be because I was up at 4. I am not running a fever. I am ackie, but that could be from working out yesterday.
Dh thinks I slept on it funny. I didn't think that happened, but what do I know!

Nurse extra well on that breast, put baby into different positions to try to clear the clogged duct if that's what it is. do you feel a lump, bump, tender spot? Is the breast red with any streaks?
Because it's friday, I would suggest a call to the dr office to rule out mastitis. otherwise you may end up in urgent care/ er with a dr that doesn't know shit about breastfeeding. (you know, the ones who say wean to take tylenol or amoxicillin?) You can always wait a short time to begin on the antibiotics if you think it is getting better, or you can begin them right away to keep things from getting worse.
and yes, you can indeed sleep on your breast funny and cause pain, but often it's cause you have a plugged duct from the pressure ofsleeping on it funny, not necessarily just soreness from say folding it into your armpit for the night. ;)

I did NOT feel a lump, nor did DH. I hurts in only one spot, on the right side of my right breast. Is there any thing I can do to help it along? I would hate to have to take antibiotic!

Some people have luck with natural remedies like garlic. I hope you're better soon.

Is your breast red? Or have red stripes?

I would say take your temperature just to make sure you aren't running a low-grade fever. When I found out I had mastitis a couple of days ago, my fever was only 99.5 - but enough to confirm for me that something was out of line.

I had mastitis about 3 times (OUCH) and with everyone i didn't have a fever at all. But i didn't get any relief from it until i took antibiotics.

I just noticed the side that hurts is a little red.
What does that mean?

Most likely mastitis.

Can I get rid of Mastitis without taking the antibiotics?
Can I still nurse while on the antibiotics?

You can sometimes get rid of mastitis without taking antibiotics. I had mastitis 8 times and was able to get rid of it 3 times without antibiotics. I just tried various things, though, so I'm not even sure what worked. There are others here who can tell you better what to try. Start a new thread with your problem in the title so that those people will see it.
I would try not to take the antibiotics unless I had no other choice. I'm now allergic to every antibiotic that I know of, and I think that a lot of the health problems I have now are partly the result my having taken antibiotics so many times when I was breastfeeding. Ds also has some issues (fungal/yeast), and I can't help but wonder if his problems were partly caused by breastfeeding when I was taking so many antibiotics.
If you do take antibiotics, make sure to take a good probiotic in addition to it to keep down on yeast-overgrowth. One of the mistakes I made is that I didn't do that.
