My daughter is just about 8 months. I'm deploying in a month, and I'll be gone for 6 months, so I need to wean. She BFs at home, and will sometimes take a bottle with BM. She also will take formula at daycare, but has been becoming more fussy with that the past couple of weeks. Time is running out, and I don't want to leave my husband with a cranky baby who won't eat. I'm also worried about her being dehydrated. Any tips???

Sorry, I cant help you, but I thought that you could have your deployment postponed if you are exclusively breastfeeding for up to 12 months. That is so sad you are leaving your little one so soon.

I dont know if this suits your situation or not but ive heard of mommas pumping and shipping the milk while in the military ?

My career field is short on people, and since she's over six months and not exclusively breastfeeding, I can't have my deployment postponed. And as for shipping...since packages to where I'm going take 2-3 weeks, that would not work for shipping milk.

Wow. This must be difficult for you all the way around, weaning, leaving your family and going to God knows where.
You can wean effectively. Your baby will adapt. Read more here and we will look foward to you keeping us informed over the next month and when you return as well.
Thanks for all you do in your line of work and great job as a breastfeeding mom!
