Hi!!! my daughter aviyahna was born 2 weeks ago with gastroschisis so i am unable to breastfeed her. Instead i pump throughout the day to provide milk for her. Within the past few days iv'e only been able to pump 2-3 times a day due to a busy schedule. I have noticed that my supply is extremly low i only get about an ounce each breast everytime i pump now (before i was pumping 4-6oz in each breast during a session). I was wondering if it is still possible to increase the supply to what it use to be? and what could i do to increase if possible?

I am so happy you are providing her with your expressed milk!

I have several suggestions for you. What kind of pump are you using? Have you seen Medela's new pump called the FreeStyle? This pump is very portable and can be used hands free. It runs on rechargeable batteries. This may allow you much more pumping time. Or if you are already using a great pump, consider the EasyExpression Bustier that will allow you to pump hands free. http://www.motheringfromtheheart.com/catalog/76Expression%20Bustier.htm

This can allow for much more pumping time. The good news is that your baby is still very young and milk volumes usually continue to rise for several more weeks. Take advantage of this time.

Email me: marsha@motheringfromtheheart.com and request my file on Increasing Your Milk Supply. I'll reply to you with the attachment. It should provide you with several suggestions on your milk supply.
