Are UTIs contagious? I've never heard that before.

Yes according to the Dr. they are contagious. I am not allowed to have intercourse until I am done with the antibiotics. I am having a little bit of pain but I am feeling better.

Some women get UTIs over and over again until the doc treats the man. Yes, they can be contagious.

Once again, did the doctor do an STD panel on both of you? Many times people are diagnosed with UTIs when the issue extends beyond that.

oh yes contagious as hell! Dh and I have experience with that one. You can pass it back and forth and not even know it. I hope you are both feeling better soon.

I'm very sorry you are in pain. I LOATHE UTI's.
I would insist on a full STD panel. Untreated STD's can drastically affect future fertility, not to mention be life threatening.

UTI's themselves are NOT contagious. The bacteria *can* be passed, ie Ecoli, but I cannot find a good solid case of contagiousness of UTI's.
I went through years of repeated UTI's, I was very sensitive to bacteria, my partner never got one- I am NOT saying I am proof- the urologist and I did talk about it quite a bit and he agreed DH could be tested but seriously doubted he had one since he had no signs.

i have had a severe UTI requiring IVs and the like and the hubby didn't get it (and we were having lots of sex then).
None the less, glad it wasn't an STD.

I think it is much more likley to be passed to the female partner if it originates in the male...I could be wrong though.
