It's working for me; try again and see if it will work. I didn't want to copy the article because there is a picture that goes with it.

Neat. The fulfilled his final wish. That is great. As long as he was properly preserved and didn't leak all over I am okay with it. One last time for family pictures.

Ok the leaking part just made me freak a bit more.

I have to agree with this even though it is a bit strange.

can you imagine coming down stairs in the middle of the night for a cup of tea and walking through your living room where your dead family member stands in the corner....I couldn't do it.

I couldn't, either. I spent the night in a house one time where the body had been brought for the wake. That was strange enough for me, but for some people, that kind of thing is pretty normal.

Omg!

That's what I picture. LOL. I can just see someone coming down those stairs, and walking through the living room towards the kitchen with hiim standing in the corner. Do they feel obliged to greet him? "Hey "bobby" hows it goin? still dead? Yeah Im just gonna get some tea. See ya later."

BM4 I would probably not be able to sleep in that house.

I don't think I would have as much a problem being in a house with a dead body that is "resting" in a casket or whatever. My fathers wife owns a funeral home and I sort of got used to that as a kid. But standing in the corner? In the living room? Hell no.

There are a few manequins in some of our displays in the museum where I work. We're in an old building built in 1876... that place is a little creepy at night as it is...the dark, human shaped figures in the corners don't help matters at all.

One of the Manequins is part of a Native American Display and is positioned picking corn. At night, her shadow looks like she is holding a large knife. A few weeks ago, someone broke in. When the police did a search of the building, they drew their guns when they came to this exhibit room. I'm so glad they didn't fire.

That is a little strange, but he got his final wish.

I once had a hospice patient who died standing up... and didn't fall down. He was leaning against a bookcase, sort of slumped over, but he really appeared to be standing. It was one of many strange deaths.

We also had a patient whose son was going to drive the body several hours to a funeral home in the patient's home town (yes, 100% legal in California). He thought he needed some kind of proof that she had died so he propped her up in front of the CNN and took a picture to record the date and time.

It used to be common in the Southern US as well, but it's not common anymore.

I'm already strange about funerals so this is beyond bizarre for me. I don't know why but I can never feel at ease looking at dead bodies in caskets at funerals. It totally creeps me out!!!!

If those were his wishes, then I'm glad they were able to fulfill them. I personally would have a hard time with it.

DD2 said one of her friends was talking about this in school and now she is totally creeped out. She slept on the floor in our room last night and kept asking questions about what happens to your body when you die.

awe.. :( how old is she? will it upset her more if you just tell her the truth? Maybe if it wasn't such a mystery to her she wouldn't be so freaked out.

I thought it was quite odd when I first saw the picture, but after reading the article am glad his family followed his request.
