DH and I along with our 2 boys aged 3 and 4 months want to go to a peach festival this weekend. There are no indoor areas at this festival and the only seating is right in the middle of all the food booths. Parking could be close or it could be a good km away.
What would you do if you were to go and needed to bf?
TIA :)

I went to one in May (Moonshine Festival). I parked close cause there was no where to sit down. I nursed in my truck with the door open! Or wear a sling.

When DD and I are out with the babe, she just finds a comfie spot and nurses, so I'd suggest you do the same.

Wherever I could comfortably sit, preferably in a shady spot while sipping on some iced tea.

Thanks ladies!!! I will just bring along a blanket and plop myself down off to the side in some shade. Tomorrow is supposed to be another hot and humid day.

Have fun! I take a blanket and look for a spot out of the way, hopefully shaded.

At the festival I planned this summer, I designed a family tent area next to a wooded tree line. There were plastic and canvas chairs with arms labeled, "mom's relaxation area." They were facing into the woods. There were hay bales and coloring activities for the other kiddos in tow. Add corn hole, horseshoes, checkers... it was frontier village family fun. At one point, I counted 4-5 nursing moms. There was a music stage within 30 yards, and no one even batted an eye at the mommies sitting in a half circle nursing/holding the kiddos. I probably had 30+ compliments on the area-- one from the county coroner. Hell, I was there myself a year ago. Have I said lately that I love my job?

Do you use a sling? I nursed my babies in the sling so often that I could do it while shopping.

I am going to a festival on Sunday too.... I will nurse wherever I need to. I was thinking I would need to just sit in the grass nearby, but maybe there will be benches or seats somewhere. I usually wear a tank that I can pull down and use my shirt to cover the rest and just NIP. Have fun whatever you do.

That sounds awesome. :) Wish you could plan our county fair. They have a "family area" with picnic tables and a roof, so I will probably be using that.

When dd2 was smaller, I would NIP while just walking around. Now, I find a comfy spot to sit to save my back. I sometimes nurse her in the sling, but she doesn't seem to like it as much as sitting down (she likes to sprawl her legs out and kick her feet around a lot while nursing). She's quite acrobatic lately.

Wear a sling or just find any comfortable spot. I have nursed sitting on the ground in the middle of commotion if there was no where else. I don't generally find a separate room to nurse in though, even if there were one, at least not while my kids were babies. My 3.5 yr old I really don't nurse in public anymore.

I nursed wherever I could, LOL! When the kids were a bit older and more interested in the surroundings I would have to go and find a quiet are to BF them so they would just have at it :D

I nursed everywhere, anytime. I'm not what you'd call "breast bashful". :)

This but, I replace the ice tea with a cold diet coke.

Babyapplejack, did you have fun?

We just got home from the peach festival a little while ago. :)

To answer your question, I nursed DD in her sling. We aren't quite good enough to nurse and walk at the same time yet, so I just stood under one of the trees while DH and DS looked at the wooden toy booth.

ETA And now I can't help but wonder if we crossed paths there today!

I just nurse wherever I am and can find a seat to sit down at. I've never really thought about it much or planned ahead as to where I might be able to nurse my child.

I would walk around and bf if I needed to or sit wherever I could find somewhere to sit.

When Andrew was 4 months old I was taking Austin trick or treating with my nieces and newphew. We stopped at Food Lion so I bf Andrew while we were walking, my step mom told the others with us oh I could never do that. I was like well he has to eat and its better then doing it while driving down the road.

I've nursed at many a festival. I either nursed with dd slung, sitting crisscross on the ground or on the bleachers, chairs, benches, where ever seating was available.

any place with shade and a bench

I've only been reduced to nursing in a bathroom once and it was really my own fault. I wasn't wearing a nursing friendly dress and so could NOT discreetly nurse just anywhere.

At the Twins Days festival this year I made the same dumb mistake...not wearing something I could nurse in easily...and so found a very out-of-the-way area with little traffic and went for it. Later I ended up out back of the contest tent right up against the woods. I made my boys sit in such a way as to provide a bit of a 'screen' for me.

I only feel the need to find a secluded spot for nursing when I have to disrobe halfway to feed the baby...otherwise I would just plop down anywhere.
