DD doesnt sleep for most people. So at the sitters tonight, they tried everything to distract her until 930 when I picked her up. They called and asked if she could have yogurt. I said yes - without hesitation or thinking. I realized afterwards that she was given strawberry yogurt which is on the high allergen list. Plus her first cousin is allergic to strawberries.
What do I look for? I googled symptoms, but dd cant tell me if she itches or if her throat feels weird. I know I am being paranoid, but just in case. Can you help me.

Strawberries often cause a visible rash but other than that, if she is coughing a lot, you could probably assume her throat is itching.
I bet she's okay though, were they fresh strawberries?

no, they were mixed in the yogurt. It was strawberry premixed in the yogurt.

Is this the first time she's had strawberries? Do you know if she's allergic? Just going by my own experience with my son's allergies, he had been exposed to peanuts 2 or 3 times before he had a major allergy. He cried, clawed at his throat and broke out in hives.
My youngest ds has tons of food allergies and no one else in the family does.
I wouldn't worry too much. She very likely will be fine and not allergic to strawberries at all. Hope she's well

This is the first time... we have been worried due to her cousins bad strawberry allergy. She spit up once but overall she seems fine. In fact, she is awake playing at my feet. I gave up trying to make her go to bed. Beign at the sitters house got her all riled up and it will be a while before we both hit the sack.
Thanks for your help.

Suzzzz (I had to count the Z's in your name. lol!) you make a good point, the more exposure to a allergen, the more likely the reaction could get worse, but at the same time, a child could be expossed to a potential allergen and react the 1st time he/she actually has ingested it. For example my DD had a severe reaction to dairy the VERY 1st time she actually had any, and my DS had a obvious reaction to tomatoes the 1st time he had anything containing tomatoes (at 17 months) They had been exposed to it trough my breastmilk, and while I was preggo with them.
;)
I personally, would keep a eye on her. Keeping a eye out for hives, swelling, or unusal amount of spitup, etc. I know there is a strong family history, but does she have any FA's that you are aware of?
Good for you for being so FA aware! *pats you on the back*

And I do actually blame breastfeeding for my ds' allergies to a point. He was exposed to many allergens while I was pregnant and breastfeeding as I didn't know any better.
I'm glad women are more aware now than I was (he is nine now). My older ds is allergy free and was fed from a bottle. Go figure. I would not have eaten that peanut butter if I was informed.
I'm sure the op has not eaten any strawberries because she seems well aware of how bad allergies can be. So her dd would need to be exposed to them twice if she wasn't exposed through pregnancy or breastfeeding. just sayin'

Formula, or breastmilk, children are exposed to allergens. I totally understand what you are saying though, I avoided PB and treenuts only while preggo and bfing DD. She has a slew of FA's, and for the longest time(and still sometimes) I have blamed myself for her FA's.
I avoided top 8 and all DD's allergens in the last month with DS and while bfing the 1st few months (we are still avoiding PB, and TN, sesame and toamtoes) The kid still has FA's! I have come to the conclusion, that my DC are just going to have FA's. Does that mean I don't avoid certain things? No, but if I avoid everyones allergens during my next (hopefully soon) pregnancy, then what the heck can I eat? LOL! I am running out of food options here.
I'm not being snarky at all BTW, it is just not in me to be!:):
IA with your last comment.
Off to sleep land now for me!
