My friend is due this week. She has a question and I told her I would ask the experts to find out.

Once the mucous plug is lost, is it safe to have intercourse?

I think as long as her water isn't broken intercourse is fine.

OK, I will.

Diahrreah+vomiting+general sucky feeling+39 weeks pregnant=baby coming sometime soon, right?

My SIL has all of the above and I told her I'd not be surprised if she calls me tomorrow or the next day holding her new babe.

i don't know. The vomiting seems out of place. Maybe she has a stomach bug or something. Baby could be preparing to come, or she could just have the stomach flu. I hope it's not the flu!!!!!!

FWIW, I did have the diahreah part but I never threw up before I went into labor, I was well into labor before that happened.

Unfortunately the puking is nothing new. Poor thing has puked about every single day of her pregnancy.

Don't you just love that. My doctors gave me milk of magnesia TWICE about two hours prior to going into labor -- scratch that, prior to pushing. Ugh! All I can say is that I hope it's common because if I hadn't been in so much pain, I would have died of embarrassment.

I think the plug can regenerate itself, so as long as water is intact, sex would be fine I imagine.
