Dd is almost 7 months old, and we've been trying baby sign language with her for about a month or so now. However, she screams like a banshee when she poops, and it just occurred to me that I could teach her the sign for poop and hopefully she'll understand at some point how to sign that she pooped.
Only I can't find a sign on any of the free websites for a sign for poop.
Anyone here know or use a sign for poop? I thought I could use one for dump, but I'm not sure about that. Thanks!

We use the sign for "potty"

Well, if it hurts, she might mistakenly think you're trying to get her to sign for "pain". Are you feeding her rice cereal?
I can ask my mom, but it'd probably be easier to google.
Here you go, baby sign language page, the word "potty" is used for poop and pee: http://www.lifeprint.com/asl101/topics/babysigns/frame.htm

No, no rice cereal. She's done this since birth-she has always hated a poopy bum.
Why on earth didn't I think of potty, lol? Thanks!

Oh, ok. I thought she screamed from pain. You know, my dd hates having a poopy bum, too. These days, it seems to also go up her back and into her hair. "lol9"

We use the "T" hand sign, and shake the hand a little bit. We use the same sign for "I need to go potty".

OP, We do the same as Singingmom. You might also want to watch if your DC makes up their own signs for things. My niece would point to her nose when she pooped and now that is our family sign for poop.
Camille, The sign for pain or hurt isn't really close to the sign for potty.

You know, we haven't gotten that yet, lol! It's odd that it hasn't gotten into her hair yet, since it's down to her shoulders!
Thank goodness for cloth diapers-the top elastic can really hold in those messes!

Oh, and thanks Camille. Dh likes that one-he said it definitely looks like a more, um, concise gesture. Why? No clue, lol!

We use the "potty" sign also or the "change" sign (for diaper change).

We use the sign from Meet the Fockers. Someone also posted a link to it. DS tries to use it, but can't yet. He's better at making the sound to accompany it. He also knows the sign for change and will run to his room if I use it. He's a smart cookie!
