My car broke down.
DH was supposed to go to his couisin's house to do some plumbing for her and we call before we leave, and we stop because we are having car trouble, call and say that we are going to be late, and his aunt says, "ok see you then." Then she tells FIL that she doesn't want DH to come out, that she would rather hire a 'real' plumber. WTF?!? He was going to charge them time and gas, (around $40), when any other plumber would charge at least $125!!!(This is before we realize my car was 'broken - broken") I got really upset because we used my gas for the week to go out there. FIl and MIL got pissed off at her sister, and fussed. Aunt says she will send us money for gas, and that they didn't want us to come out there and get stuck. (And every one knows she is just covering her ass.) Cousin and aunt went into town to go shopping and MIL sent them after patterns because there is a sale on patterns.
Friday I had asked my BIL if he wanted to come out for the weekend, I could take him home with me, and DH could drop him back off. He said,"NO, I have to stay and finish painting Mom and Dad's house." MIL and FIL asked him to paint the house on Monday, so that it would be completely dry after pressure washing. MIL asked BIL to stay and do some other things, and he says, "Little Wayne (DH) wants me to come visit for the weekend."
I walk into MIL and FIL's house and they ask where BIL was, which leads to , "I don't know, he said he couldn't come over" from me and a "he said he was going to your house" from MIL. I call Dh's grandparents, where BIL lives, and they don't know where he is at either. (MIL is now mad that he lied to her, and I am made that he tryed to use us as a scapegoat.)
We get in the car to come home and discover the car is "broken - broken" and requires a mechanic. MIL and FIL load all of us up into two of their cars and bring us home. I call my mom to see what is wrong with my car, and it is what I thought it was, the timing. My mom and stepdad are being stubborn and won't evacuate until the last minute if they have to, and are planning on riding out Gustav in the middle of a field in their damned trucks, with a neighboor!)
But I have had some good today! I got to spend some quality sewing time with my MIL, and we got to plan some projects. I have been quite happily sewing at home and made DD a twirl skirt for Halloween. I made refried beans that were edible and yummy, instead of going straight into the trash can. DD didn't throw a fit when I told her she would have to ride the bus because the car is broken. We decided on DD's costume for Halloween. (She wants a pink Jasmine costume) I got to sleep in until 9 this morning.
I know I am rambling, but it helps to calm my mind a little so that I can concentrate. And damn, I just realized that DH drank my last beer. Mean DH, mean!
Oh, and we discovered that DS won't listen if you tell him in English, but he will if you tell him in Spanish. He occasionally throws out words in French and German, and we have no idea where he learned them from. Now I have to learn Spanish. :)
