She made her appearance 3 wks early due to pre-e. 5lbs 15oz Aug 27th. She's doing great and is has been nursing like a champ since I was able to put her to the breast after my csection.
The only concern I have and I know this will probably happen again but she slept 5hrs straight last night. She nurses every 2-3 hrs during the day, Has about a 3hr span between 10-1am of wanting nothing but to nurse, all her diapers are soaked with something. I don't know about weight gain yet as she hasn't been weighed since we left the hospital on Fri.
Call me paranoid but with my dd I gave up on bf because she was loosing too much weight and doctor suggested. I was determined to bf my son and wouldn't let him go past 3hrs.
So the question I have is... is it okay to let her sleep 5hrs again if that's what she does again?
Thanks in advance,

***Looks like I have nothing to be worried about, we went for an appointment yesterday and she's already up and above her birthweight, 6lbs 1oz. I never thought that would happen with a BF baby I guess I have a little piggy on my hands.****

Congratulations on your little girl. It sounds as if you two are doing wonderful. As long as baby is nursing 10-12 times in a 25 hour period and is making at least 6-8 diapers I wouldn't worry about her sleeping one 5 hr check. If you go in for a weight check and she isn't gaining, I would start waking her every 3 hours at night to eat.

I have no advice but did want to say she's beautiful and I love the name! If ds had been a girl, that was one of the names we were thinking.

Congrats - and hopefully she'll *be* the joy of her father :) and yours too.

Aim for 10-12 times a day. If she cluster feeds in the evening then one 5 hour span once every 24 hours might be fine. I would suggest to monitor her diaper output for now and make sure she has OK feeds (help with supporting your breasts and massage gently when the nursing slows until she falls off the breast). If she doesn't gain her birthweight within two weeks you know that you should wake her.
