In light of a potential natural disaster to one or several states, what is the proper response for candidates and political parties? Should a convention be cancelled/postponed/limited? Should candidates continue to have rallies?
I understand the intent, but I go back and forth about what good it will actually do NOT to go ahead with the convention.
It's not like they're gonna be down there in slickers laying down sandbags, you know?
I think it's all about competition....as someone in another thread (or maybe another site) said, the Republicans don't really want to share a split screen on CNN of them throwing a party while the levees fail in NOLA...

Personally, I think the convention should have gone on. I think that as part of the convention, there should have been workforces created to go from there to whereever to help out.

I would have gone on... it's not Katrina all over again. While I appreciate their efforts for fundraising, i think they are trying to buy time to figure out who is going to be VP.

I would be appalled by the tremendous waste of money and resources if it were to be canceled. I do appreciate the humanity in scaling back today's portion, though. It is hard to be joyous and excited when a portion of your country is suffering so much.
