Hello all -- I am a soon to be new mom (26 weeks along) and first in my family (both my side and my husband's family) to breastfeed, so I really don't have anyone to ask about breastfeeding! I have purchased a Avent Isis Duo breast pump. Everything that I have found for storage is the cup containers. I am looking at getting storage bags instead of the cups. Does anyone know what is compatible? Can I pump as normal and then pour into any storage bag that I choose. I am looking at purchasing the "First years" storage bags. Any information that anyone can give me would be great. If it is better to do the storage cups, then let me know. I have read reviews on those with some people loving them and some people hating them.
Thank you for your help!!

New mom to be!

You should be able to pour into any breastmilk storage bags. I never pumped much, but when I did I always used the bags for storage. You can lay the bags flat in the freezer and stack them up once frozen. Bags are easier to store in my opinion.

Yep, you can just pump and pour into the bag. I like the lansinoh bags in the purple box.

I use the Lansinoh bags too. They're a better value (you get more bags for less than the other brands... at least where I buy them.) You can pour whatever you pump right into them- and they have a double seal to protect the milk from freezer burn and spills. theres a tab on top, above the seal, to write the date and volume on to protect from ink contamination. you can store them standing up or flat- they're my fav I have like 20 in my freezer right now. :)

I also use the lansinoh bags. I think they're great like newmominct said, they have a double seal and tab up top. Plus once you thaw your milk, it pours our easily and cleanly.

Yup on the Lansinoh bags here too!!! I love em!

(but I have not ever needed to use my freezer stash. Everything we freeze will most likely be donated to another baby in need because DD refuses to drink more than a couple ounces per day.)

I've heard that the Lansinoh bags sometimes rip and/or bust when dethawing. I'm not too sure of the unthawing method the donor family's are using though.

Welcome to the boards!! I, too was the first in my family to breastfeed. I have found bf.com to be a great resource for me! I was back to work 3 nights a week at 12 weeks and pump at work. I LOVE the lansinoh bags, as does everyone else! They freeze really well and the milk is easy to thaw. Can I also suggest getting the freezer containers for the milk? The bags go right in the slot making it easier to store. I have two of them and it really saves on space. Good luck!

I love the Lansinoh bags as well. I have had some leaking but I had way more leaking with the Gerber bags
Good luck and great pre planning

I started with the Gerber bags and storage wise they are fine. But trying to write the date on them is a pain! It is nearly impossible to find a pen that will write well on the clear plastic.

So I started using the Lansinoh bags and I love them! The area you write on has a white box and any ball point pen will work great.

I lay them flat until they are frozen and then I add them to a large gallon size Ziploc. I only have 10-12 bags (have only been having "extra" for about a month now) so I haven't had to worry too much about freezer space yet.

I have only ever had to defrost a handful of bags, but I haven't experienced any leakage from either the Gerber or the Lansinoh.
