Several high school football teams from other states have been in Dallas this weekend playing Dallas area high school teams at Texas Stadium. The scores so far:

Cedar Hill (Texas) 38
Cincinnati La Salle (Ohio) 14

Justin Northwest (Texas) 13
Pittsburgh Woodland Hills (PA) 12

Arlington Bowie (Texas) 48
Trotwood Madison (Ohio) 0

And in a game this afternoon between two powerhouses, the #1 ranked teams from Texas (Euless Trinity) and Louisiana (John Curtis) butted heads. Texas' Euless Trinity is also ranked #1 in the country by USA Today. Final score:

Euless Trinity (Texas) 28
John Curtis (Louisiana) 12

There is one more to play and they are playing right now. Colleyville Heritage (Texas) vs. Clovis East (Calif.). Hopefully, none of the California boys will get hurt which leads me to WHAT IN THE HELL WERE THESE COACHES THINKING bringing their boys down here to Texas to play football?? A spelling bee? Sure. A science fair? Why not. But football? These out of state boys could have been seriously hurt! Which makes me wonder, where are the parents?? I mean, where are the parents today? Sheesh.

You know, you don't see New Mexico sending their high school football teams to Texas to play and they're right next door. Hell, they know better. Ask Hidesome.

But at least they had a good time. I saw a couple of the Ohio kids interviewed on the news last night saying what a thrill it was to play at Texas Stadium where the Cowboys play. One of them said, "as soon as they let us on the field, I ran straight to the star at the 50 yard line and did my T.O. impression. It was awesome!"

If I'm around later, I'll update on the Colleyville Heritage (Texas), Clovis East (Calif.) slaughter. I mean score.:)

That made me giggle.

My high school (Wayne County, Mississippi) won State four out of five years in two different divisions (4A & 5A).

I always wondered how they would stand up against those West Texas boys...

I'm sure it would have been a good time, Gigi.

Oh I'm sorry. I inadvertently left one game off from Saturday.

Buford (Georgia)
Mansfield Timberview (Texas)

Sorry about that.

Ahem. Don't forget where your boy TO came from. *coughGoEaglescough*

I saw a great shirt at the shore last week. It said "I Have Two Favorite Football Teams. The Eagles and Whoever Beats the Cowboys".

My stepdad officiated that Trinity game and those boys just LOVE to play at Texas Stadium. What an experience.

Uh, yeah, have you even seen New Mexico's football teams? Or the Lobo's for that matter? That is why Albuquerque has one of the biggest Marching Band competitions in the southwest. Because a lot of people don't go to see what happens before and after halftime.

I am sad to see that a team from Ohio lost, but I am so glad to see boys from Cincinnati traveling the country. A lot of people from that town don't get out of there and experience other ways of life. It is depressed and sad area of Ohio.

That's cool! Tell him I said thanks for keeping it fair.;)

It says Sept. 16th, Mimi. I noticed that the editorial review of the book mentions J.P.

Can't say I've had the pleasure. But if the kids are anything like Hidesome, I'm sure they're all as tough as a nickel steak.:p

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope for better days ahead for them.

There is one more game to report from last night, Colleyville Heritage (Texas) vs. Clovis East (Calif.) A Dallas Morning News sportswriter was blogging from Texas Stadium all weekend, that's how I was keeping up with the scores but he must have left before the last game. Thinking I might catch a score online somewhere, I googled "Colleyville Heritage (Texas) vs. Clovis East (Calif.)" and ended up on a California high school football message board where they were talking about the game. The general consensus was "it's neat that the kids from Clovis East are traveling to Texas to play at Texas Stadium, but why are we playing one of their cream puff teams? They aren't even ranked in Texas. We should be playing one of their best teams."

They were partially right. Colleyville Heritage isn't ranked in the state of Texas, but they are ranked #11 in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. You can take my word for it, #11 in the DFW area means that they are a very good high school football team. I would think that between their juniors and seniors, they probably had at least 8 or 9 players on the field who will go on to play Division 1 college football. Anyway, the final score was:

Cream Puffs (Texas) 41
Clovis East (Calif.) 26

It's true. However, in my neighborhood, you don't send the football team out to play with the chess team. Quite literally, the chess team would kick their ass.

Football in Texas is like mud on a pig. They wallow in it. Nobody else understands why they do. Nobody bothers to ask the pig. It just is. If you keep your distance, it can be fun to watch.
