sleeping question

My LO is now six weeks old. How long can I let him go between feedings during the day and at night if he is sleeping? He's gaining weight great! Almost 1.5 oz./day. He's 10 lbs. now.

At six weeks and gaining well, I would go by baby's cues and just let him set his own sleep schedule. You may want to wake him (or pump) if it's been several hours and you're starting to get full, and you may not want him to sleep TOO much during the day, because then he may be more wakeful at night. At night, I might want to empty the breasts at least once both to prevent engorgement and plugged ducts, as well as to prevent your period from coming back too soon.
