Okay well it has been 5 days since my tonsill's were taken out.
I have been taking liqued Vicoden every 6 hours but it is not long lasting and Im in alot of pain.
The Dr's have given me a script for Roxiceft alixar for pain.
My pharmacists is of no help to me about this med and the Dr straight says no nursing.

I know this is a L3 but can you give me any other info on it.
Is it going to be okay to still nurse Ds.
I dont have much chioce here as Im in more pain than child birth.
I dont even have words for this kind of pain.

Not nursing will not be an option and Ds is 22 months.

Roxicet is it?

It's Percocet, just another name for it. It's somewhat stronger than codein and only small amounts are secreted into bm. There are no reports of ontoward effects on infants but there is the possibility of sedation. At 22 mo that might be a good thing LOL. Just kidding. I wouldn't worry at this point about missed feedings unless your ds is about to fall off the growth curve. Plus it's temporary.

The meds max within 1-2 hours and the half live if 3-6 hours.

Oh and feel better soon. This sounds so umm, painful. Poor momma.

Thank you Ima.
So it is okay it just might make Ds sleepy?
At 22 months he would still get some into him. That is scary Im not sure I like that, but Im in so much pain and will be for a couple more days.
I don't know what to do now.

OUCH! I am so sorry. I hope you are eating your popsicles, resting and taking Motrin too (if you are not allergic). Be careful not to get too comfy with the pain meds although I am sure you need them.
I have used Magic Mouthwash in the past. Ask your doc if it is ok for you. OOOOH, it numbs the area so nicely.

Hope you feel better soon!
You should send us a picture of your sweetie!

Oh Vicki I would not know what to do with out you lately.
Thank you so much for coming in here.
So if you were in this kind of pain would you be okay with this choice of medacine?
I hurt and I can't use any Motrin and Im not aloud to gargle.
Knowing that Ds will not wait to nurse and all what are the chances here.

I would take the drug and nurse and not even think about it.
If you are in that much pain, a limited course of that med isn't gonna hurt anyone.

Sorry, love, I thought I was clear on this one :). Yes I think it's OK to nurse an older toddler (even a young baby) and take this medication. The younger then baby the more the possibility of sedation is an issue. You don't want your infant to miss feedings. Just see if your tot is a lot more sleepy. If not then fine. And if yes, you need to gauge with your mommy instincts if she is still able to eat/drink plenty. With any luck you should feel much better too very soon so all this is very temporary.

Sorry I missed your last post.
Yes, take the meds you need. I love the picture!!!!
I have thrown out so many boy clothes due to mud stains...I never thought to take them off before the mud bath.
Priceless!!!!!!
