I know this question is not about breastfeeding, but I have gotten good answers from this forum and thought someone might have experience with this...I am trying to use cloth diapers, but my baby is getting big red irritation marks where the diaper cover rubs against his skin. I don't want to give up on the cloth diapers, but what can i do about this problem? it almost seems unavoidable...

thanks in advance for any advice!!!

You are using prefold with a diaper cover? what kind of Diaper cover are you using. We use bummis whisper 8something* when we use prefolds, but mostly we use Fuzzi Bunz. I hated BumGenius 3.0 because they rubbed by DS raw.

I use the prefolds from a diaper service, and i use isme visme (sp?) diaper covers...they are cotton, and that is why i am so surprised it is so irritating to his skin....

I only use covers when we are out and about. At home, I just keep dd in a prefold.

I have had similar issues with the PUL diaper covers. I suggest that you try a fleece cover rather than the PUL: Stacinator is an excellent brand of fleece covers. They make a "Stacinator So Simple" for daytime & a Deluxe (100% leak-proof) cover for nighttime. I've never had any problem with fleece covers irritating my little man, though I can imagine that they may be bulkier than the PUL covers.
Hope I could help!

It could be the detergent you're using. When you get detergent build up, it irritates the babies skin. Before giving up or changing brands try Country Save detergent it does not cause repelling and it's more gentle on sensitive skin which my son has. Hope that helps!
