Greetings, gals! Any of you use NFP (natural family planning) or LAM (lactation amenorhea method) of family planning? Was curious when you started charting? How does NFP (Sypto thermal method of basal waking temp.) work when you wake frequently to nurse? Is it an accurate temp when taken same time each AM?

My baby girl is 4 mo. We exclusively nurse (have offered a bottle only in beginning when had trouble nursing and needed to give calories, have offered occassional pacifier...baby won't accept either now, even when I occassionally (1x month) would like to offer one. Would like to space babies approx. 2 yrs. and plan to nurse at least 1 yr., hopefully for approx. 2 yrs.

Your experience and insight will help me plan ahead. Thanks:)

I, personally, wouldn't rely completely on NFP while nursing. It can make a lot of things off a bit. I would still chart, just use something else preventative along with it, at least until everything has gotten back to normal and stayed that way for a bit.

If you are exclusively breastfeeding, baby is sleeping less than 5 hours at night, baby is less than 6 months old , and you haven't started your cycles again LAM is fairly effective. But again, I would be careful.
