Strep Throat

I've had a sore throat since and no voice since Wednesday. If I don't get better by Sunday, I'm going into the doctor on Monday. What if it's strep throat? I am so worried. Are the antibiotics that you take with strep safe for breast milk? DD refuses to drink formula and I don't have a large enough freezer stash to last for a whole round of antibiotics.

There are only very few medications that would warrant you to stop nursing. Your run of the mill antibiotics aren't on that list. Most likely your doc would prescribe Penicillin if it were Strep, or if you are allergic then amoxicillin (which is widely used for infants as well) or Keflex. All three are rated L1 (safest).

Thanks for the reply. It's nice to know that those are safe. I won't worry too much then if I go to the doctor.
