Luke went for over 24 hours without peeing this weekend. He was with grandparents all day saturday and hadn't peed since Friday evening. I put him in the shower (cause that always makes him go) and he was rubbing his tummy cause it hurt. The pee was so yellow and stinky.

Then Sunday he woke up and wouldn't pee. I took his unders off because if he's naked he will go in the toilet for sure. Well, I was in the kitchen and came around the corner and he was peeing on the floor. He looks and me and is laughing. I was so furious. He knows how wrong it is and that it was mad but he just kept laughing. I didn't even know what to do!

So, yesterday he and Chloe were with their grandparents all day (we had a banquet) and we told them to keep pushing lots of fluids and keep reminding him to pee every half hour. Well, between 10 am and 8 pm he peed once. He drank 5 big glasses of milk, lots of water, and juice.

When we got home was sleeping already and he woke up at 6:30 this morning with a soaking diaper and bed (which I expected). We cleaned it up and of course didn't punish him or anything. We told him we were glad he finally went actually.

So, now this morning he didn't have to go before I left for work. He went for my mom though before school. He went a whole bunch. He fought her for it too. He always fights it. And I'm not talking complaining, I mean screaming and kicking. It's terrible.

I have a call in to the pediatrician. You think he has an infection? He will also not go all day in school.

Poor little guy. It sounds it has become a power struggle.

I'm sorry sweetie, I can't believe he is holding it for so darn long, the only reason I know that it would be so stong is because he's holding it for so long. At least I know that's the way it is with me. Hopefully his ped can help you out.

I have two like that at home.I know how hard it can be.
Have you tried telling him why he shouldn't hold it for so long?

I have tried to tell him that if he doesn't go he will have to see the doctor and that he will get sick. I don't know what else to do.

It may just be a way of getting your attention as well. Call the pedi and even if all the pedi does is tell him that he will get sick because of it, the pedi saying it instead of you may work.

Thanks. Well, of course the dr. wants to see him and probably do a urinalysis. How am I gonna get him to pee at the dr when I can't even get him to pee at home?
