It's beautiful here, so I think I'll pack a picnic lunch for us and we'll go for a drive.

Nothing but cleaning the house, nursing the baby and keeping the 2 year old entertained till the older ones get out of school. Can I come on your picnic with you instead???

I should clean my house, but it's too pretty to stay inside, plus we'll have a houseful of kids and grandkids this weekend, so I'll just wait and clean after they all leave. The kitchen will be a mess, because I'm making an apple pie and chicken and dumplings, so I'll clean it up before they get here, but the rest can wait.

When our kids were little, during the summer (and on days off during the fall and spring)we frequently packed up a quick lunch and took them to the lake. There's a nice playground there and it broke the monotony of being in the house.

A picnic sounds great but I have to work today and I have childbirth class to teach as well so I won't set foot outside of this place till 9p tonight.

*sigh* DS is on antibiotics so we have to avoid the sun as much as possible. Maybe we will have a picnic in the living room instead

Put blankets over your table and let them "camp out" and have picnic! My kids still talk about getting to do that during the winter when it was too cold to be outside! Sometimes, they even slept there.

Grandma spoiled that one for me, she brought over a tent and set it up in our front yard and camped out in it with the kids. (Well, DS came in and got in his own bed when he got tired) :)
DD grabbed her daddy's lunch out of the fridge, this morning, and since he didn't want a peanut butter sandwich, I had to make him a new one. So I have an extra lunch already made. I can get some nature sounds on the computer and spread out a blanket, and use my fancy china though. :)

gosh I wish I was a SAHM....not saying it's easy but it sure would be nice to just go to the playground with ds or just chill out with him instead of being here...

Well, I just got done with my legs workout. Other than that I really need to nap since I got 3.5 hours of sleep last night, and I need to clean.

Today is Holden's first day of doing "kindergarten" (a pretty non-academic, Waldorf inspired curriculum). So far today we've done circle time, made apple pie smoothies to be drank while eating oat cakes for breakfast, studied German, and read a story. He got his beeswax crayons and modelling wax in the mail today so that was Very Exciting. Me, I got bills. :gig:

The baby has no plans. The older two spent the night at my mom's house.

I'm making a batch of pasta sauce, then I need to make grape jelly. Dh is doing the milking and I think he and Holden are going to take a short nature walk when he's done. This afternoon London and Holden both have dance class.

That's about it. Oh, I need to read about Confucius with Alexander so that we can move on to Julius Caesar.

Here you go:

3 apples, cored and sliced (leave skin on if organic) or use 2 cups apple sauce
1-2 c. yogurt or milk (I used vanilla yogurt)
3-4 T almond butter
1 banana
2 t. vanilla
1 t. cinnamon
1-3 T coconut oil (melt first)
Few ice cubes (optional)

Blend well. Can be served warmed gently if it's chilly outside.

Sasha, did you get your apples put up, yet? We are going tomorrow to pick up a bushel (oh how I love Southern Illinois apples straight from the orchard), and my biggest plan is to make a pie and eat a bunch of them. I think I'll freeze some for winter pies and cakes, too, but they are so good there might not be any left!

All the apples are gone off of our apple tree but I bought a bushel at the Farmer's Market Saturday. I'm going to make applesauce (Holden's favorite food), apple leather, apple pie filling to freeze, and apple butter.

Now my mouth is watering. I adore apples.

I love apples, too, and am always so sad when the season is over here, since I'm pretty picky about the ones I like to eat fresh. We can get them from the orchard and in our local stores till the first part of December or so, and then after that I don't eat many.

I love apples, too! So far, my favorite has been Honeycrisp. When they do make its way up here, it is nearly 4 bucks a pound. I am a selfish mother/wife and only get it for myself. **laughs** I get something else for the other 2.

**looks outside** not a pretty day here. Very cloudy and cold, likely to rain. I think it is going to be a good nap kinda day. :)

I should eat something before heading off for a nap. My sugars have been going a bit crazy since the surgery. High, low, high, low. Blah!

So far today, we've done school and I've deep cleaned the kitchen and plan to steam clean the dining room carpet (and eventually the rest by the end of the week) I get a cleaning bug when Fall starts and have to "Spring Clean" one last time before it gets to cold to have windows open. We might take a walk to the park down the street later while the carpets dry.

ETA: Dinner is done too. I've got pork carnitas in the crock pot.

DH spoiled our picnic plans ~ had to mow today :( Going to try again tomorrow ~ and also go get some apples from the orchard, wine from the winery, and some bacon-wrapped burgers from the local meat market for Saturday's cookout.

I had to drive DH to the burn center for his follow up. He is healing very nicely and has been released for regular duty:) Yay!

Load & unload the dishwasher and washer and dryer. Empty the recycling bucket. Make the dinner?? Hhhmm, what to make?
