Is there anyway to get them to join?
Who do you call the insurance company or the PCP?
I don't know how all of that stuff works? It's probably more complicated than what I'd like to think. I'm irritated that they're not one of their providers though because the company just switched medical and their last insurance had our PCP on there, but this one does not. So, is it possible to get them to join?

I would call the PCP and ask them to join... it can't hurt.
Good luck

I read this wondering why insurance would cover a hard core street drug like pcp...:gig:

You can ask them to join, I think it's a pretty involved process. When we had Ruthie, our ped took our insurance, but my dh's job was changing insurance companies and he didn't use that insurance. He was in the process of applying but the nurse said it's a 60+ page application form and the insurance companies didn't make it easy on the doctors at all, she said they would send it back for any little thing and then the waiting process started all over again.
I think she said it can take up to six months from the time they apply until they are actually accepted by an insurance company.

Only the major insurance companies up here are sticklers about pcps. My insurance company is a bit smaller and because of our location, pretty much everyone is on the pcp list. While the insurance coverage is not grand, it does beat having to worry if my pcp is covered or not.
I, too, have heard that becoming a pcp can be a major pain in the ass.

I'm sorry, that's a real pain in the rear.
