Help! I can't find any info. on how to stop producing milk. My son is 13 months old and with his Daddy's help putting him to bed at night, we have gradually weaned him off of the breast. I was down to one feeding in the middle of the night and now he isn't waking up. My breasts have adjusted to this except they are still getting engorged about every 30 hours so I pump them. It just gets too painful and I don't want to have any problems with them. How long does it take? We have been doing this about 2 weeks now.
If anyone has been through this, I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!

As long as you continue pumping (completely emptying your breasts) when you get engorged, your breasts will continue making the same amount of milk, just like you were nursing.

Express just enough for comfort without completely emptying the breast. You can gradually lessen the amount of milk that you express.

This is a gradual process. The engorgement will pass, but many women are able to express a tiny amount of milk for months to years.
