I know that taking milk out of the breast increases milk production, and pumping after baby eats is a good way to stimulate this....
So yesterday and today I've pumped for 20 mins after each time DS has eaten. The thing is no milk has come out. not one drop :(
So my question is does the nipple stimulation also increase production or am I not making a difference if i pump nothing?
I'm so upset, I have a very limited freezer supply now and I have to go to work tomorrow.... I dont know what Im going to do!*cry*

A baby is far more efficient than a pump. :)
Try pumping more often instead of just after he eats. It isn't how long the baby eats that stimulates more production it is how often. Make sure to empty the breast every time though. What kind of pump do you have?
Also try making some more milk cookies. I will look up the recipe for you, but regular old oatmeal cookies work for me.

ooh! cookies that stimulate milk production?! count me in! :D
I have a medela PIS it usually works great....
Ive been super stressed out this past week though and it looks like my milk has gone down the tubes :(
Its like a crazu cycle though...
getting stressed decreases milk, decrease of milk makes me stressed :(

I borrowed this recipe off another site. I am sure there is a recipe floating around here too, but I knew exactly where this one is? :)
Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies ™
Ingredients :
* 1 cup butter or marg
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons water
* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous)
Directions:
Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.
Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.
Serves: 6 dozen cookies
Preparation time: 15 minutes
*can be found at any local health food store.
*NOTE* IT MUST BE BREWERS YEAST, NO SUBSTITUTIONS

I hate the catch 22 of stress. I also use fenugreek to kick up production. Right now sitting here unshower I realize I probably smell like gym socks dipped in maple syrup.

Oatmeal! Breakast, cookies, middle of the night, whenever! Steel Cut oats worked best for me.
Drink OODLES of water.

Try warm compresses on yur breasts to encourage letdown. Sometimes I acually had to take a hot shower to help stimulaate a let down. Or have you tried pumping at the same time your son is nursing. That sometimes helped me.

My pump is a double but it allows for single side pumping as well. Sorry wasn't thinking about different pumps/

Pumping is an acquired skill, you definitely need to relax and try and reduce your stress. It will have a detrimental effect on your supply.
I would look into renting a hospital grade pump for a better chance at stimulating your supply.
