:(
Work calls. He should be going within the week, ugh. It is going to be very hard around here with him gone, but I feel so lucky to have so much help from my family around here.
He could be gone as long as a month straight. ugh.

He is not sure where they are sending him, but it won't be pretty wherever he goes. Hopefully they have safe accomodations for the crew.

Hopefully it will go by very quickly and you will have lots of help. That has to be difficult.

I am sure he will be okay. I hope all goes well for you.
It is a mess in Texas. We need as much help as possible.

Indeed and that is helping me take a step back and stop feeling so bad for myself in this situation. I live in a region just as vulnerable and would want the help to flow in if the tables were turned.

I would love to! I haven't been to TX since 97
I have to be here and run the restaurant. It cannot be done with DH and I both gone :(

Hang in there! He might be home sooner than expected.

Running a restaurant is hard work. It takes a lot of time a dedication.

TX friends...
what is the word down there? How are things looking, as in the long haul? I have a really hard time gathering from the media how things are, KWIM?

I am near Ft Hood and all is peachy. We did not even get a decent rain.

Not good. There are over a million people in the Houston area without power. The flooding is pretty bad. Downtown Houston looks like a war zone with all the skyscrapers windows blown out.

Thankfully the port is okay.

Power will be back on in Houston in two to three weeks. The grocery stores in my town got completely wiped out by people going back home. There was not a single bag of ice to be found in the entire town. The death count is at 28. :( Several towns have been completely wiped out.

They're not pretty. Its a complete catastrophe. My husband is gone again, abd I'm left to handle the aftermath by myself. With three kids, its not fun.

It leaves me questioning myself; am I so pathetic that I cannot live without electricity?

It sounds like a difficult task since it is a serious adjustment from your norm AND you are by yourself. :(
