Due to popular demand, this thread is back This position, IMO, is the best for momma and baby~ everyone gets the rest and for a distractable nurser, it minimizes the triggers of distraction

You need to start out by pillow shopping: I bought the firmest pillow I could find..put that pillow on top of your regular sleeping pillow..

I also bought these nice, little quilted waterproof pads for my DD to lay on while we were nursing, it saved us from spit up and blow outs while nursing, so we didn't have to change the sheets~ but this pad PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE~ stay tuned..

Lay baby on the pad in the middle of the bed, grab your phone, remote, laptop, whatever and lay on your side, the boob to be nursed is closest to the bed...

Take the arm closest to the bed and extend it straight out, now with your other hand, grab that pad and slide baby into you

At this point, let your boob fall where it may, smaller chested ladies may have to elavate baby's head, I always laid DD flat and just turned her towards me. When she was a little older, she supported herself in this position, you may have to prop something behind a newborn.

You can slide baby easily up or down to perfect your position while baby is on the plastic pad

I usually brought my knee/leg closest to the ceiling and let it drop down for balance, some need a pillow there, not me. Some also need a pillow behind but I did not.

For larger chested mommas~ your afraid that baby will smother by your bewbie! I know, once you have him/her latched on, give the plastic pad a little tug and pull away from you, this will stretch the bewbie ever so slightly but just enough to clear her/his little nose!
