View Full Version : Going crazy... 6 days overdue!

Ladies... I am starting to freak out. I am 6 days overdue and have been having no signs of labor. I was 5 days late with DS (#2 child) and had a fantastic, picture-perfect intervention free L&D. With DD (#1 child), I was 10 days late and almost ended up with a c-section- had pitocin and an epidural, and was very upset with how it turned out. I'm afraid that, now I am passing 5 days overdue and quickly approaching 10, I'm going to end up with an experience like I had with DD- or end up having to be induced.
So far, I've tried walking, squats and pelvic tilts, sex, pineapple, and nipple stimulation. I was thinking about getting some red raspberry leaf tea tomorrow and maybe going to the chiropractor. I just wish I wouldn't be having to do all this, and just go into labor like I did with DS!
Any ideas, suggestions, encouraging words???

Refuse an induction? curb walking? EPO? walking in the sand? Better yet, make plans to go somewhere and unpack your hospital bag.

Don't have any advice as I was 10 days overdue with my first and induced resulting in a c-section and repeat c with my second.
I'm sending you lots of ~~~labor vibes~~~ and I hope you go into labor soon!

Sounds like you're doing everything right. :) I know it's not always much of a comfort when you're there, but you won't be pregnant forever. You can ALWAYS refuse an induction, too. I'd check out what your Bishop's score (http://www.mybirthbydesign.com/Bishop%27s%20Score.pdf) is as well before considering one.
Best wishes!

Go get a pedicure, ask them to rub your feet extra long and hard. Worked for me :) Good luck!

:( IDK I'm sorry. Elijah tried to come from 7 months on,so I haven't been there. Have more sex! Even if it doesn't induce,it'll be fun!

I was a week overdue with our 4th and last baby. I couldn't believe it! However, I was induced, but the dr. used some kind of cervical gel. I really must have been ready because 4 hours of labor and she popped right out. Good luck :)

Just wanted to wish you an easy labor & healthy outcome.
Try not to stress out about the HOW so much. (I know, easier said than done.)

Good luck!
I wouldn't panic yet, 6 days overdue really isn't all that much. I did end up with an induction with my son at 42 weeks, though my daughter was a 41 weeker. With her, I wasn't dilated even a fingertip on a Monday. I went into labor on my own the next night. Things can happen quite fast!

Do some reflexology on your feet. If you look online you can find the appropriate pressure points. Worked for me with my third. Or just have your hubby give you a good, firm foot rub.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I took DD to school today and then DS and I walked to the health foods store so I could get some RRL tea. I drank about 5 cups of it over the course of the day. Around noon, I put the kids down for a nap and laid down for a nap myself and was having light contrax every 10 minutes. By around 3 or 4, they died out. Around that time, I went to the bathroom and lost what appeared to be at least part of my mucous plug. SO, I am hoping that these are good signs and this baby will come out this weekend. I may go for a pedicure tomorrow. I could use one anyway. And I think I will try to pressure points tonight. AND, of course, sex AGAIN, though I am not feeling particularly into it these days. lol
I talked to my midwife today and she said to just rest, eat and drink enough, and have sex. She said to call her on Monday to check in, and she's not worried about it. She said I can't be pg forever. :-)
Thanks for the advice ladies. It's nice to have some support. Everyone in my life keeps making me more anxious about being overdue. I know it's going to be fine. I just need to hear it sometimes, kwim?

shes right you wont be pregnant forever, AND due dates can be days or even WEEKS off, even if you think you are right on the dot, you might not be.
do not stress, do not worry, and the next person that starts blathering on about you being overdue tell them you found out you arnt due for another month, woops. :)

I love that... the next person that calls, I am going to say "what are you talking about? My due date is OCTOBER 19th!". LOL! :-)
