Any ideas or suggestions on how to deal with this? It makes nursing a little difficult for my ds, and nursing a little frustrating for me.

Heather I had to do what is called block nursing. I started out offering one breast every 3 hours, no matter how many times he ate, it was on that one breast until 3 hours passed and then we would switch. I did this for about a week and still had to go a little further with it. I then had to offer 2 separate feedings on one breast and then switch to the next. This has helped me. I say start slow and work your way up. I hope this helps

I totally agree with momoffive. I did exactly the same thing to treat my OALD.
I also had luck with side lying nursing.

I did this exact same thing, and it worked wonders. My milk as leveled out and he can now nurse fully on one side and than the other the next. I still have painful letdown but i can deal with it as long as he his satisifed.

It depends on how you things are going for you. At 12 weeks, it seemed that my supply calmed down a bit, and I went back to nursing one side per feed. After allowing her to nurse as long as she wanted on the first side, I offered the second; she almost never wanted it. She's 15 months now and still nurses one side per feed.
So, if you continue to spray, baby struggles, etc, continue to block feed.
