Very Sore Breast

I have been breastfeeding for three months now and absolutely love it! However, within the past two days one of my breasts has an developed this intense pain that seems to be coming from the inside. I feel alright and the milk looks completely fine to me (no yellow-ish color). Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on or have any suggestions on how to make it go away?

When do you have the pain? Is it all the time, at the beginning of feeding, end of feeding, only when not feeding?

If it's at the beginning of a feed, it could be letdown.

It also could be a clogged duct. If you feel around the breast, do you feel any knots? If so, you can massage the breast towards the nipple around the knot to try to break the clog. You can also try warm compresses and hand expressing while in a warm shower or bath.

I used to pump, & I'd massage my breast during pumping to get it to flow faster. I guess I'd go overboard sometimes and end up feeling bruised & sore, but that doesn't sound like what you're talking about.

It is always on the right side of my breast during and after the feeding for about the next hour. I do have a little lump so I will try massaging it and hopefully that will break the clog.
