I'm so sad I am numb and shaking. My dog has medical issues that we can't afford and I had to give her back to the adoption agency today where we got her from 5 years ago.

It's all because DH might lose his job this January ( contract) and we just had to pay 900 in repaires for his truck ( today). My dog needs the surgery now to remove a large growth that has really started to bother her. She licks it all the time now. With his job issue and the fact that we had to pay $900 today has just been to much. We don't have the money. We cant take out a loan because we just had to take 5k out not to long ago for more auto repair. Plus I don't think it is a smart move when we might not even have a job soon.

Please tell me I did the right thing so she will get the care she needs that we can't give. I'm heartbroken...

I knew this day was coming. I was planning on getting her surgery with next years tax money but I noticed all she was doing was liking it. That means it was bothering her....right?

I felt like it needed to be done now I I have no money. Plus IDK if I will have the tax money to use. I just did not want to wait any longer for her to get it fixed and let her be in pain.

(((HUG)))) I am so sorry. You did what you had to do. Your dog will get what she needs and that shows that you love her.

wow. How absolutley good hearted and selfless of you. I am sorry your dog had to go, but take comfort in knowing you did what was best for her, even though it may not be the best for you. I think it's awesome that you had the guts to admit you couldn't take care of her. Now she can get the medical attention she needs, and hopefully be adopted by a loving family, and live a long healthy life. You did the right thing my dear.

Did you make sure they were going to treat her?

I'm wary of animal adopting places because when I was a teen we went to the local SPCA and we found an adorable little doggy who walked right up to the bars of her cage wagging her tail and we petted her and she seemed so happy to have some love.

We decided we wanted her and then the worker told us that they were going to put her down because she was "too shy". She wasn't shy at all with us. It was a shock. We would have happily taken her. Instead we left with no animal.

If they put them down for being shy, I'd worry what they would do with a dog with a tumor.

As much as it hurts you did do the right thing. I admire you. I do not know that I could be that strong.

I'm still numb. I keep looking at her favorite sleeping spots only to find she is no longer there. Coming home is hard to since she always greeted up at the door.
