My son is almost 3. Last night he woke up at 1:30 and said his ear hurt. After a few hours with Dh in the spare room fussing and tossing, I took him into bed with me so one of us could get some sleep (DH) When I got DS in bed with me he continued to toss and turn for hours and then said his legs hurt. Can these be growing pains and if so what can be done to ease them? He was seriously uncomfortable last night.

I can remember getting terrible growing pains. My mom would wrap my legs in towels (the extra warmth really helped) and gave me asprin (I know a no-no these days). I would give him some motrin and wrap his legs.

Yup, I would start with a dose of motrin and then follow that up with the full recommended dose of Hylands teething tablets. Hylands has camomile in them and helps baby get calm, even if there is no discomfort.

You can also try Calms forte for kids, I use it with my little one who is 4.9: http://www.hylands.com/products/calms4kids.php

My Ds gets bad growing pains in his legs as well. Ibuprofen works well and I've heard that wrapping is helpful as well. My son also like for us to massage his legs when they are hurting him.

Well the waters are a little muddier today. DS has a temp of 100.9 and still states that his ears hurt. So maybe the leg pain was just the aches and pains of getting sick. I'll probably be calling the pedi tomorrow. It's a little early for the sick cycle to begin but not less than 2 weeks ago he was on Zithromax for a sinus infection.

But thanks for the leg pain relief tips I'll try them.
