My son is eight weeks old and he doesn't really smile. He is really gasey and is usually always straining. I can maybe get one or two smiles out of him in a day. Has anyone else been in the same shoes? I am scared something might be wrong. Please help.

first of all *hugs* and congrats on your new one... but relax! don't be stressed out, every baby is very different.
He does smile and thats a good thing. As my son's pedi told me once, some babies are just more serious than others :)
He'll eventually smile more and more often as he learns what he likes and what amuses him.
For now, don't be worried that there is something wrong with your baby and just enjoy him- he's a such a precious age :)

As long as you have seen him smile, I wouldn't worry. Actually, at 8 weeks I wouldn't worry even if you haven't yet.

If he is smiling once a day, he is smiling. It is hard not to worry when you are the mama. He may just be a serious little boy, or he may surprise you one day and start smiling all the time.

Congrats and I'm sure he is fine. The older and more alert he gets the more smiles you will see.

Baby will mimic what he sees, so, show him plenty of smiles and in no time he will be smiling ear to ear!

My DD was stingy with her smiles in the beginning, and then around 10 weeks she REALLY started smiling, Every baby develops differently, so I wouldn't worry about it. As you said, you have seen him smile. Give it a little time, the payoff will be worth it!
