I went for my annual exam this morning and everything seemed routine until she did the pelvic exam and told me that my uterus is enlarged and I need an US ASAP. Well the only opening they had was Monday the 13th at 8:30a.
Why would my uteruse be enlarged?!?!? I will be doing some research when I get a chance but I have a lot of momas to see this morning. I am freaking out! I have had severe back pain for the past month and I have an appointment to see my family Doctor next Thursday.

Could you be pregnant? Though I'm sure they'd have checked that if it was a possibility.
My first guess after that would be a fibroid.

Yea i would say it is a fibroid. My sister had 3 large fibroid tumors and they were benign.

They did not even ask for my LMP. I have a tubal so that may be why they did not ask. I have a fibroid but it is very small and has never given me any problems. My LMP was September 13 and all my periods are normal. I don't cramp and I don't bleed heavily. The last time I had sex was when I was ovulating but I did not even worry since my tubes are tied.

It won't necessarily be something bad because they want to do an U/S asap so try not to worry yet. I had a pap and they felt a huge mass on my ovary and they were the same way that I needed an U/S asap. I was so worried and scared it was cancer and put myself through hell for a week. It turned out to be benign cyst that was 3x's the size of my ovary! It went away on it's own. Try not to worry and don't google!!!

I have googled but mostly I have been looking through my books. I did read that sometimes fibroids do grow and show no symptoms at all. I am hoping this is the case.
I truely doubt that I could be pregnant because I had my LMP on 9/13, DTD on 9/27 plus the having a tubal decreases the chances even more.

She had alot of pain while haveing sex and cramping. She would bleed through most of the month. So she went ahead and got a partial hysterectomy. She was 32 at the time. My mom, me and my sis all had female problems and had to have a hysterctomy. I just hope my niece (who is pregnant and due anyday day now) does not have any female problems like the rest of the immediate family and have to have surgery for it.

My sister had a tubal and 5 years later she got pregnant. She had a few miscarriages she said. She thinks it was from the Fibroid tumors that caused the miscarriages. But her tubes did grow back after 5 years of having surgery.

I have heard of this happening as well. I had my tubal exactly 21 months ago today.
I do not have any symptoms that you mentioned in your other post. I do not have pain during sex but we only have sex like 3 times a year and we just dtd this past weekend and I am due to start in about 10days so if I don't have my period the day of my US then I guess the US will clarify the reason for an enlarged uterus.;p I guess I will just have to sit and wait patiently.

Thanks. The waiting game *is* awful, I am going to have to keep myself busy for awhile so I won't drive myself crazy.
I have an appointment with my family Dr. next week for back pain and if he schedules an x-ray he will more than likely do a blood test for pregnancy. That is how I found out I was pregnant with dd2....I went to the Dr. for a cough and he ordered a chest x-ray and since I was not sure of my LMP he did a blood test and the nurse called me that afternoon and said "Mrs. V your test was positive." I was like " *cough* positive for what?" It took me a whole day to allow the news to sink in.
