I bought ds this outfit for halloween. http://cgi.ebay.com/DOG-Petables-Halloween-Costume-SIZE-2T-Toddler-L-K_W0QQitemZ360093021376QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360 093021376&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ebayphotohosting
like this one. He wanted to be a puppy but its to hot here for the whole costume.

Well now he wants to be underdog. I bought the rest of the stuff needed to be it. Well we put it on today and its very bulky. I was thinking of having a friend who sews help me take the hood off and sew it to the shirt. Do you think that would work or be to heavy. He will be wearing the hood I just want it sewed up to look better not unfinished. Any other opinions would be a great help.
Eta : i will also take the tail off and attach it to the pants.

could you just make him a headband with the ears, and attach a tail instead of wearing the whole costume?

I thought about that but if I did the whole hood it would look like his head was a puppy. Instead of just ears

ears & puppy snout & whisker makeup should work fine, The hood will make him warmer, too.
