DS has a yeast diaper rash..I noticied something starting over the weekend, but it was so minimal, I didnt think it could be yeast, so we just kept A&D ointment on him.
Well, yest after he pooped and I didnt know it, it got worse, put A&D on overnight and it looked alot better this morning, but keeps flaring up when he poops..which he is pooping more frequently from me being on the antibiotics, but I just put 2 and 2 together today. He would poop before like 1-2X per day and now its 4-5 x per day and they are more loose though not diarrhea.
Thing is, I have been pumping at work and at night before I go to bed..and all that milk has the antibiotic in it...and I dont want him to get another diaper rash b/c of that pumped milk when he eventually drinks it, so what should I do. I really DONT want to throw it away. I would be losing almost an entire days worth of milk[&:] and im barely just pumping what he drinks when im away and already had to start pumping before bedtime to get an extra 2 oz.[&:]
Also, since I just took my last pill today, and Ive been pumping at night before bed, should I just not pump at night for a few more days until Im sure the antibiotic is out of my system and milk? I dont go back to work until sat..and I WILL need to pump then for sure.
Suggestions, advice?
And, on top of everything else, now im scared crap that DS and I are gonna get thrush[bl][:(]

The antibiotic will be in your system for several more days. You are better continuing to nurse him and try to prevent thrush. Go ahead and feed him the pumped milk while you're apart.
Have you considered taking probiotics and giving some to him as well? These will help replenish the good bacteria in his gut (and yours) that leave you suseptible to yeast and will help correct the diarrhea.

Keeping using the A&D. Aquaphor is another good option.

He wont actually get the pumped milk for at least a few more weeks or possibly another month since I rotate my stash by dates. So, I am going to go back and mark those bags, however, if/when he DOES get that pumped milk, its going to cause the same thing to happen. I really dont want him to end up with this again, is there any way to prevent it in advance before he gets that pumped milk?
I already started taking acidolopous a few hours ago. I only have a few left though so I need to get more tomorrow. As for him, I will check out that link and get him some as well tomorrow. I really really really dont want us to get thrush. So far, I dont see anything in his mouth, and Im feeling fine. But, I know that can change. Any other tips on how to prevent thrush?
Thanks so much!

If you mix it up so you don't use that pumped milk all in the same day, it probably won't mess him up if it's just like one bottle of it a day and "regular" milk for every other feeding. does that make sense?
also, I don't know why you were taking the antibiotic? that may make a difference.

Good call there! So, yes, I could give him one bottle of the "bad" milk and another of the "good" milk..or mix the two together and eventually use it all up over the course of a few weeks of mixing?
Oh, I have/had GBS. Go figure, when I was pg, I tested negative, but went in for a check and tested GBS + back in July...they gave me the same antibiotic i took now, but in a vaginal cream instead. Well, it went away, and then came back a few weeks later. So, this time, I asked my Midwife to give me the pills instead...gosh how I wasnt thinking..I really wish now I would have just used the cream again, BUT, Since it really didnt seem to work well enough the first time I thought the pills would work better.

what was the antibiotic? just wondering, some are harsher on baby's system than others.
yeah, mix it up a bit so he's not getting so much, but you aren't wasting that liquid gold.

I agree with AmyG that it may be the antibiotic in the milk and mixing it in with your regular stash should be fine.
Taking a probiotic will do a great job for you and bay in protecting you from yeast. You can buy Jarro-dolphilus+FOS which is good for all ages, so you both can take the same kind.
When I suspect yeast in the diaper area, one of the first things I do, is stop using all barrier type creams like A&D because that actually helps the yeast grow and switch to grapefruit seed extract, you can read about the use of GSE in this link: www.drjaygordon.com/development/bf/thrush.asp
It won't hurt to use occasionally as a preventative measure at the first sign of redness. You can buy this product at the same store that sells the probiotic. Make sure when shopping for a probiotic that you buy one that requires refrigeration, they are more effective.
Since you were asking if there are any other ways to ward off thrush, there is a product called the silverette which boasts warding off thrush as well. I have to tell you, I have been using this product since I started nursing DD2 (19 months) and I have never had thrush and I did have it in the past with my other two babies, so, you might want to give it some consideration. You can read more about it here: www.breastfeedingheaven.com

I just separated all the milk that I pumped while taking the antibiotics and it totaled 50 oz...so, as you can see..there is NO WAY I can spare to dump all of that. And, b/c the antibiotic wont be completely out of my system for another few days..the ped office said 5 days, the milk I pump tomorrow night at work and tues night at work will have to go into that same stash and I will have to combine it so he doesnt get all the antibiotic pumped bottles at once.
Anyone have an suggestions as to how much I should combine of the good milk and the antibiotic milk..like half and half? thanks
I really hope I can pull this off...Im so upset b/c thats so much milk and I really dont know what else to do
