My ds who is 2 is feeling under the weather. This past weekend he had diarreha, then Monday he got a fever blister. On Wed. he got a fever, it comes & goes. He isn't very energentic. Will play for a little bit then lay down & rest.

He is nursing & drinking Gatorade or water. His appetite is very low. You can hear his nose is stuff but can't see anything. If his nose does run, it is clear.
Tonight while he was sleeping or trying to, he gaged a couple of times. I think the stuff in his nose is running down the back of his throat.

I am debating whether to take him to Pedi or not. With him not sleeping well, I thought maybe ear infection. Since he isn't eating much, I thought maybe sore throat. But he is still drinking. WWYD?

Thanks ladies

Doesn't sound serious. How long did the fever last and how high was it?

He still has the fever, it just goes from high grade to a low a grade. When he let me check it, it was 102 (not sure how accurate) and the next time it was 95.
I haven't given him anything for it, thought I would let it run its course. Was going to give him motrin tonight so he maybe be comfortable to sleep. But he passed out before I could. He has woken up a few times again but too upset to take it.

How long has he had this fever? If more than one day I would call your PMD tomorrow. May be nothing or may be a virus of some kind. Either way, you PMD will check his ears

He has had it off it on since Wed. Night. I had thought about calling the ped to have him seen, just to be on the safe side before the weekend. I just wanted another opinion to make sure I wasn't overreacting. There has been a lot of things going around in our area from MRSA to a flu bug. I didn't want to take him and expose him to anything at the peds if I didn't have too. KWIM? Thanks Colleen for responing & your insight. I appreciate it!!

No problem, I'm also a peds nurse and it is coming up on respiratory season (rsv, flu etc) Good luck!
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the doctor's office! At ours, they have a sick side and a well side. YOU HAVE TO WALK THROUGH THE SICK SIDE TO GO BACK WITH THE NURSE! Duh!
