What is the difference? I know that one heats the water and the other doesnt. But really, what could possibly be different in the room?

I would recommend a cool mist humidifier. While on vacation when my DS2 was 13 months we borrowed a warm mist humidifier to use as he was not feeling well. He ended up burning is finger quite badly when he crawled over a touched it when my back was turned. His finger had a fluid filled blister that covered the entire finger.
