How did you introduce milk? I know a lot of people who formula feed will mix the two gradually. What do you do when you don't formula feed (I'd just buy some, but he doesn't really like it and it's way too expensive)? Pumping is also not an option. I started giving him milk about a week ago and his diaper rash (that's another story) seems to have gotten worse. I'm not sure if it's from the milk or not. I'm still nursing about 2-3 times a day, but that's only going to last so long....any suggestions are appreciated.

TIA!

I too am curious. I am not looking to introduce milk just yet...it's still my thinking that cow's milk is for baby cows.

DD eats a lot of dairy in her daily diet including cheese and yogurt. (and no, I'm not looking to wean either. Just responding to this post)

my dd got less and less interested in bf-ing when she was about 9 months old or so, i was 5 months pg ... i heard it changes the taste of the milk ... anyhow ... i was at my moms and she just would not nurse but she wanted to drink, didnt want juice or water so i figured what the hell lets try some milk. she had it and loved it and after that she refused my milk all together which was hard on me but the transition went smoothly for her. she was ready to move on and she never had any problems with it. i did buy her organic milk tho since she was under a year ... i really didnt want her to be on formula!

We never did introduce it. Both dd's eat cheese and yogurt, but never cow milk.

If the baby is nursing just 3 times a day, there is no need to introduce any other "milks", as your milk provides all the calcium, protein and fats that he needs. Your body will continue to make milk even if he nurses just 2-3 times a day. Even when he's nursing just once a day, your body will continue to make milk.
