Found a Doula!

Well, we signed the contract with our doula today -- I really like her. We'd been going back and forth on the expense, but found out that we have enough in medical reimbursement to cover most of it.

So Yay! I'm hoping this will really help me have the sort of birth I want, even though I'll be in a hospital.

What wonderful news!!

Your going to love it! When you feel you don't have a voice or can't speek up for yourself, because of labor, she will be there for you! Doulas have a way of reading your mind alot of the time. I've had one for 4 of my 5 births. I have one for my next one as well.

Yah! Good for you. We've been debating wether or not to hire a doula. We don't have insurance. The cost for us would be $500.

I plan to have one for this birth. I had one for my last and she was amazing! I never asked her to do anything, she just did. She knew when to put me in in what position and knew when to put pressure on my back. When we got to the hospital (pushing mind you) and nurse starting trying to put an IV in, I remember just glancing over at my doula thinking this was it, the beginning of the interventions. She just closed her eyes and shook her head and suddenly I had my power back. I told that nurse she was insane if she thought she was going to put an IV in my arm while I was in the middle of giving birth! That was sooo not me, but just her presence brought me back to the power that IS the birthing woman.

Yay! I loved my doula.... kept me off drugs and helped with the contractions! She was godsent!
