He has checked all the rooms in the house for anything that can cause a fire. We were in the kitchen and heard him telling DS2 how to stop, drop, and roll if he is on fire. He also is wanting to know our fire escape route and if we have smoke detectors and if we have checked them. He was walking around the house with a piece of paper and saying, "hmmm, Lets check this room. Okay, things seem good in here." He has on his most serious man face and is using his deep man voice. :)

I am so glad that he is aware of fire safety and that it hasn't scared him. We have gone over what to do, but he wasn't into it like he is now. DH and I are going to look into getting an escape ladder and hopefully, we can teach DS1 proper safety about what to do. He did correct me about checking first to see if a door is hot before we open it. He also told us about crawling, not walking. He is so very serious.

Cute! And reassuring to know that he knows what to do!

DD loves dinosaurs. She has a little one that goes everywhere she goes. She makes them roar at us. She also makes them hug each other. She also likes pirates, but I think it's more due to DS liking pirates. DS has a stuffed animal that's a dinosaur dressed up like a pirate and she's always taking it from his room.

Littlest Pet Shop.sigh.
Vet clinic- or hospital, house, school, or Hannah Montana concert - all acted out by little bug eye bobble head toys "mommy make this one talk"

Pirates. For real.

:D DS1 went through that stage recently. He was in it for a while. DH caught him yelling, "Off with their heads!" Where he learned that I don't know. So, DH said, "Maybe we shouldn't take people's heads." DS1 replied with, "No, not people daddy! Okay...off with their BUTTS!" We are going to be a pirate family for Halloween.

He's really into "teamwork" right now, which means if I am really busy and he wants me to do something with him he says, "But mom, teamwork!"

Then I feel bad for being busy. lol

My 5 year old is really interested in caterpillars (she found one and we made a hatchery) and the human body right now. Specifically how the brain and the heart work.

Still_me, We need to get our kids together. Seriously.

My Dd has not stopped talking about fire safety since we went to an open house at our local fire department. They showed a movie, took the kids through a mobile smoke house, and then gave them a badge if they could answer 10 questions right. The kids then got to ride on the firetruck. It was great, and very effective. Dd has not stopped hounding me about getting ladders that go out the window...

Its the season for firesafety. DS1 is going to be a fireman for Halloween. Also my neighbor is a firefighter and we are working out a way for ds1 to go on a "safe" call with him.(My neighbor is awesome!!)
He is also obsessed with dinosaurs. I found a show on Discovery kids called Prehistoric planet and that is his FAVORITE show right now.

We'll get together soon. I am always looking for something to do with the boys when this time comes around. We can always head to the city to do something with the kids. Unless you know of something closer to the two of us. You know more about kids stuff in your area because we have nothing out here.

We can go ladder shopping together! lol

LOL! I love how he stays in character with the "me" part of his speech.

DS1 doesn't understand all of it either, but for some reason pirates have scared away fears of monsters and things. We have an amazon parrot too, so she is Captains (DH) mate.

The other day DS1&2 came into the room to rescue me from "The Beast" and asked where it went. I said, "Look! It is escaping into the kitchen" It was DH and DS1 replied with, "Arrrr!, No my lady, that is my crew!" DH thought it was hilarious and encouraged the whole pirate family idea for Halloween.
