Every time my baby latch on his lips are not sticking out they are sticking in. He is also very fussy at times. He will pull at my nipple and then try to push into my nipple. also have you heard of the saddle positon and know you know of any videos that are good at showing how to position a baby. I prefer one that uses a really baby. thanks veronica

Greetings Veronica, what I get from your question/explanation is that you are not positioning the baby correctly to your breast. This is a very easy solution, if you know how to correct this problem. I'll try to respond as best as I can considering we are typing, but having a professional comming to your home to make sure you are doing things correctly will be a wonderful idea. Another great idea will be for you to join a La leche league group in your aread, this way the leader will be able to help you personally, making sure you are possitioning the baby correctly.

Ok, so here it goes:

1- never let the baby to grab your nipple/breast but instead once the baby's mouth is wild open, push him towards your breast making sure most of the aureola is inside his mouth.
2- make sure it feels good and you don't feel any pain or disconfort as this tells you that you are not possitioning the baby correctly.
3- keep your hand on your baby's neck and don't let him pull away. This is an habit most babies get and if not corrected can develop into another more serious problems.
4- once the baby is latching correctly, put your finger between your breast and his mouth to see if the lips are "sticking out" if they are not, gently pull them out and correct this usng your finger.
5- trying different positions is a great thing to do as many babies favor some positions more than others, or they find easy to latch using some positions more than others.

Hope this helps my friend.
