I have been receiving letters from an attorney for about a year maybe 6 letters total, stating that there was a Class Action lawsuit against my former employer and to please contact his office. Well I was just a month PP and not in the mood to deal with any of it so I pretty much just brushed it off as not wanting to get involved in any legal preceedings. Well I just received a letter stating that my former employer has settled and I am entitled to part of the settlement but I must have my claim filled out by October 20th. My main questions are if I file the claim will it affect me in anyway? It is against a large corporation for not compensating lunches, overtime etc. I actually decided to call today and the answers I received were really vague. I am sure I will know more when I receive the claim itself but I was told that it is individually based and that my name came up from the dates that I was employed there. At the time I was a 10 hour employee and was never paid overtime, or given more than a 30 minute lunch. If I sign the claim will it affect me if I ever chose to apply there again? They also informed me that my name came up because my former employer provided all the names of people who were not paid to standards. I have not worked at this particular job since I was 5 months pregnant with Kenna who is now almost 3. I had no idea this was even going on at the time. Would you sign the claim and receive your portion of the settlement?
