DS's preschool teacher asked that they go dressed to school as a city employee (i.e. doctor, nurse, cop, fireman, waste removal)

The thing is I have already bought DS a halloween costume and I wouldnt want to spend more than 10 bucks on this costume. Anyone know how I can make/find him a cheap fireman or doctor costume? I'll be checking stores tonight as I did see a few weeks ago a cheap firemen costume.

A blue pillow case (or green), cut out the shape of a scrub top (you need a sewing machine) and simple seams all along... or better yet draw your pattern, stitch the seams, then cut it out and turn inside out, use a fabric marker to write Dr. ..... on the upper left corner.

Another blue pillow case for the pants, cut out pant shape with an extra two or so inches at the top, fold over and stitch leaving an opening to make a draw string or put in elastic.

Do you have a toy stethoscope ?

DD went as a firewoman in a pink raincoat with a cut out construction poaper hat and watermelon rainboots. They really don't, or shouldn't, expect you to have to buy anything for this.

I would make a stethascope from a cardboard cutout and tin foul, maybe some rubber gloves and cut a few holes in a pillowcase as a jacket and make some sort of photo id clip on thingy.

Check your local thrift stores, you can probably put something together for pretty cheap.
