My ds is 28 months old. About a month ago, he kept saying his pee was owey(sp). I took him to the dr. for something else but mentioned it. They put a bag on him to get a urine sample, it came back neg. Lately, he is saying it again, not when he pees though, just when you touch it.
For ex: if I have to move it when I am changing him.
Any thoughts?? I thought bladder infection but it came back neg, so now I don't know. Thanks for any help!!

DS will say this when I put his diaper on in the morning. he is often, er, engorged and a diaper doesn't feel so good, LOL!

Is he intact or circumcised?
That's what I was going to ask.

Hmm, no experience with pain here, but would wonder about things like adhesions or a sensitivity to bubble bath, soap, laundry soap, etc.

My DS does the same thing - he also is usually "engorged" as xobehs put it - LOL
Honestly, I think he is just uncomfortable with it if you KWIM?

Is there any redness at all? Can you get him to point with his finger where it bothers him?

Can you move the skin around his base and end to see if there is redness like BB asked? That can happen easily. I put diaper creme on the boys sometimes if it is red.

Sorry, I was away from the computer. He is circumsied (sp) and it isn't red. He does it at different times of the day not always engorged. When I ask him where it hurts, he points to his pee pee and says there. Since it isn't red that is why I thought urine infection but it wasn't. Thanks for your replies.

Does he pull on it? Some boys are too rough.

Could it be a yeast infection?

if it is yeast, wouldn't there be signs of infection? Wouldn't they have said something when I took him in last time?
I have never seen him play w/ it. He wears a diaper, just started this week w/ pullups (trying potty training). The only time he sees it is in the shower or bath. And I have never seen him touch it.

If he just started a new kind of diaper, and the pain coincides with that, I would suspect something with the diaper - either a chemical that he's reacting to, or maybe it's too snug.
Yeast infections are very hard to diagnose by visualization.

He just started using the pullups Sunday, and has had the pain off & on before than.
So how is yeast diagnose? Sorry I have never had to deal w/ them just bladder infections.
Thanks for your help

Are the pullups the same brand as the diapers he was wearing? Maybe it's some kind of sensitivity to something in the diaper. If it's not red and the tests came back negative, I'd try switching diaper brands for a little bit and see if he continues with the symptom. Good luck!

Poor little guy. No advice here, I don't have boys but I hope you can figure out what it is.

Yep the pullups are the same brand. We have always used pampers on him. Thanks ladies!

DS always says his penis hurts when he has to pee or poo. I think he's feeling that burning sensation that comes when we wait too long. Could it be something like that?
Otherwise, I have heard someone describe the head of the penis as almost painfully sensitive sometimes. I wonder if some guys are just more sensitive from the get-go?
I hope there is no health issue (even though I know that would mean no sense of closure.)

I wonder about position. Though he isn't in diapers anymore, the car seat buckle bothers DS the most. He often says he needs to "fix" his penis, then he makes the adjustment and is fine.

I don't think it is a reaction to anything, cause when it started he was introduced to anything new. If it was a yeast or something along those lines I am assuming the dr. would have said something when his urine came back neg.
I am hoping you are right Earthmama and it is just sensitive. I will wait it out a little bit and see how it goes before I take him back in. It isn't like it bothers him all the time, just when I move it to clean him, kwim.
I won't be back on probably for a couple of days. I am having surgery tomorrow morning on my arm. So when I feel up to it, I will check back. Thanks for everyone's help, I apprecitate it. Have a good night!!
