My daughther is 9 months and a half, 16lbs and was born 6lbs 3oz. I've posted to the forum 3 times already, but things are not improving and I'm loosing hope. I also contacted LLL and local consultant from dr. office. My daughter is not breastfeeding for 10 days or so. She slowed down eating the previous week and over the weekend she only fed once a night while she was sleeping. After, it has been 10 days without breast. I've tried everything they have recommended: cutting down solids, breastfeeding before solids, laying down with her, sling, at night... I don't see any improvement, Any chance she'll go back? She has been drinking from the cup and now she can drink about 13 oz. Anything you can recommend? A couple times, she has put the nipple in the mouth, bite, looked at me and push away. She is teething and I have given her tylenol, cold washcloths. She also sucks her fingers and that is all she wants to suck when I hold her.

I know this is hard. My recommendation is to relax and don't push or force the breast. Make a game out of it, teasing her with your nipple but not letting her latch in a playful way. Hang in there as this is a common age to strike against nursing, but babies don't wean at this age. Is this helpful?

I had one mother whose baby wouldn't nurse for 2 weeks, but then started again and nursed for 2 years. You could also stop giving her the cup. Breastfeeding is so wonderful for both of you, that it is definitely worth hanging in there.

I think that she is now drinking from the cup maybe more than MANY days that I breastfed her. She is just not so interested on breastfeeding. But I was determined to do it for at least a year and then more (maybe once a day if she wanted it). The first few days of the strike, she did not know how to use the cup and she only had 1-2oz a day and she did not seem to care. As I said earlier, she is happu sucking on her fingers. I still plan to give her Breastmilk for the year. But I would much rather not to pump
