No poop in 2 days 3 yr old

My son never goes more than 1 days without pooping. today was the second total day with no poop. And yet he is all red around his anus, can that be from straining to go? I have not actually seen him try to go and he hides when he does go so it is hard to catch him in the act. Anyway, he has been eating a lot of grapes, they aren't constipating are they?

I don't know if grapes constipate and I only have a 6 month old but when he gets constipated I give him some pedialyte and it definitely helps more so than the Karo or anything else. You could also try anal stimulation with a thermometer and a little Vaseline. Like I said it helps with my 6 month old so hopefully it will help with you.

I would not be manually stimulating his rectum, you can tear it really easy, it simply isn't necessary.

Does your DC like prunes? Thankfully mine does, 4-6 prunes get things in gear very quickly;-)

If not, you can disguise prune juice in a smoothie.

We have never tried prunes but I can buy some juice. Would raisins help too?

I usually opt for sweet potato baby food. Jack is 3 1/2, but he'll still eat an occasional jar of baby food as a snack sometimes. Otherwise I just try to offer more veggies, lots of water, and avoid dry foods. Exercise helps as well.

Thanks. My son will not touch baby food but I thought about buying baby food prunes.

Prunes or I have heard that apple juice can help too.
