Just wondering how long I can expect my nipples to be sore. Do they gradually return to not being sore once his teeth pop through or is this likely going to be a new ongoing thing until hes done teething? My DS is about to cut his first tooth anyday now.

Thanks

Is it his lower tooth or upper?

Is he biting you in response to teething pain?

If he's biting you, I'd try offering a cold washcloth from the freezer prior to nursing him and medicate with tylenol or motrin.

Watch him for cues that he's finished nursing and unlatch him. It's impossible for him to nurse and bite you simultaeously.

Its his lower teeth that are coming in. First ones too. Hes not biting me. I dont know if maybe the pressure from his swollen gums is the culprit or maybe his latch is off due to his gums being more swollen?

I am having the same problem! I am sure ds is teething because suddenly he is acting like something hurts and wanting to nurse ALL the time. (At this moment he has been nursing in his sling for 1.5 hours straight . . .) All night too. I think it is the latch. He's not biting, but it seems like he just doesn't want to relax his jaw and open wide like usual. As if he's trying to drink through a straw rather than nurse, you know? Maybe it's the same with yours. Does anybody have any ideas on how to get them to latch properly while teething?
