been taking fenufreek for almost 2 weeks now.. and not really seeing a significant increase in my supply... even got a new pump from the local LC... the ped won't give me reglan, and the OB doesn't seem like they do that... was wondering what you guys thought of that other drug...domperidone(sp?) was thinking since i dont' need a script that i would just order some online... with my new pump (medela pump in style) i've been pumping 3-4 times a day(and i usually pump for 10-15 minutes even if the milk stops coming in.) either right after a feeding or when he takes his little naps... only thing i haven't been able to get myself to do is wake up in the middle of the night to pump.. i know i should realy try to do that... but i really don't want to supplement after feedings anymore... and it takes me 3 pumping sessions to get 1 oz of BM... any other suggestions?? REally want to increase my supply!!!!!!! maybe i'm not patient enough...

how much fenugreek do you take? Do you drink plenty water? How old is the baby?

Are you basing your supply concerns on your pumped amount or have you had baby weighed before/after feeding? How is baby's output?

basing my supply concerns on that the baby didn't gain back his birth weight until AFTER the doctor told us to add formula bottles after bf sessions... i understand that when you pump you get less than what we think the baby is getting but... the baby is not always satisfied after having both side of me twice...

When did you start supplementing?
I still wouldn't assume it's a supply issue if baby doesn't seem satisfied. Switching back and forth is how babies increase your supply and often acting not satisfied is their way of letting you know they want to comfort suck.
I'm not saying you DON'T have supply issues, I just want to make sure before you get way deep in a lot of supply boosting if it turns out that's not the issue. Having an over supply is no fun either.

Sorry, I meant how old was your baby when you started supplementing? More specifically, I'm wondering how old baby was when he hadn't regained birth weight, was he gaining at all or still losing at that appointment?

OK, I'm following you now. 4.5 wks is a long time to go without gaining.

yeah i know that's why the ped. made us start supplementing.. i really want this breasfeeding thing to work out... and would love to be able to pump and give him me... but when i pump i'm getting practically nothing.. i hate having to give him formula.. but i do... because i dont' want him to starve.. and sometimes i feel that when i give him the formula i'm just making the breastfeeding thing worse because it seems like he sleeps more and then i'm waking him up to feed him.. then he less satisfied after he has me it's lke a deadend or something, and very frustrating.. i don't give him the supplements over night..that's just for me... and when we do that he's satisfied at night.. i've been trying to get myself more awake in the middle of the night to go downstairs to pump after i feed him .. even been tempted to sleep downstairs for like two nights straigt and kinda just hang on my couch for those two days and do nothing but pump and feed.. i'm really just desperate to only breastfeed.. and i appreciate everything everyone on this site tells me.. and try to follow through with everything.... TIA

I really can't be much help with pumping. I am absolutely TERRIBLE at it. I know a lot of moms look at pictures of their babies, picture themselves nursing, an hold items that smell like their baby. I'm sure you've tried those things, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case.

I know you have 2 children so this may be hard to do, but have you tried taking baby to bed with you for the weekend? Just snuggle and nurse as much as you can. I know people say oatmeal helps and lots of water. I would just keep nursing, nursing, nursing.

only on the right side... and that's just because when we first started he had a poor latch for a while.. but we have since corrected that...
i would say 9 out of 10 times that i pump the baby is sitting in his boppy right next to me, i've even tried holding a receiving blanket that has his smell on it... i don't really notice a difference...
