Let me start off by saying, do what is right for you and your baby!
With that said, I didn't give Makenna any bottles after she was 1 week old. Horrible jaundice, I knew she wouldn't get released from the hospital unless she started pooping like crazy. I also knew that before my milk came in, she wouldn't be pooping much so we supplemented alot. Mostly with the SNS which is a godsend to jaundice babies! Anyways, once she went off the bili blanket at home we stopped bottles. There was no looking back until lately...
She is 3 months old and I had been up with her for days with gas. I was tired, beyond tired, I wanted to sleep without a baby latched onto my boob just for a few hours. That's all I wanted, a few hours to myself in my bed alone sooooo I offered Makenna a bottle. Thinking she would take it, drink a few ounces and go right to sleep. Well that didn't work. She took a few sucks, realized what she was drinking and the look on her face was priceless. She stuck her tongue out and started spitting with her eyebrows wrinkled like I had never seen them. She was VERY confused and then gave me a look that said this exactly, "mom what in the hell are you trying to do to me, gag me or something!!!". Let's just say I slept with a baby attached to my boob that night... LOL!
Got to love a baby that refuses to drink anything but breastmilk! What a better way to keep breastfeeding, to make your baby happy!!
Now I have yet to bring out the pump lately to see if she would take breastmilk from a bottle instead of the formula and really I'm not looking forward to it. Me and the pump are NOT friends!
