I have a new born baby boy and i've chosen to breast feed. However, I'm lost when it comes to building up my milk supply. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do to help increase my milk supply so that I can have enough to store? I have a medela pump in style breast pump.
The 'rule of thumb' is supply and demand, the more you feed the more you will produce. I get quite a few moms asking about how often they should feed, don't watch the clock... feed on cue. This alone should do the trick, be sure to have a good latch and position baby well onto the breast in order for him to empty the breast efficiently. I see you have the Pump in Style, great pump...if there is any further concern, maybe try pumping in between feeds and storing this just to maintain an already established milk supply. Mornings are typically the best times to pump, mothers simply have an abundance of milk.
